Compound(s) for the novel treatment of haemorrhoids

Technology description

Summary

It is estimated that between 4 - 25% of the UK population is affected by haemorrhoids, with the condition being more common in the 45-65 age group, in pregnant women and in obese people. They cause itchiness, pain and bleeding and can vary in severity, with more serious cases requiring surgical intervention. Around 9 in 10 people however do not require an invasive therapy and are suitable for topical treatment. A novel topical treatment has been developed within the University of Nottingham. A patent application was filed October 2011 by the University.
