Novel fusion proteins and antibodies for treatment against cancers and autoimmune diseases
UConn researchers have used bioinformatics to identify 3 novel molecules that have 15-30% sequence and structural similarities with the existing B7 family members. Fusions proteins of these novel targets ameliorate graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and autoimmune disease including type 1 diabetes (T1D) and multiple sclerosis (MS) in rodent models. Antibodies against these novel targets inhibit cancer in mouse xenografts.
