Whitehead Intellectual Property Office is seeking a licensee for modular designs for anti-amyloid therapeutics. Amyloids play an integral role in a broad range of human illnesses including prion diseases; neurodegenerative conditions such as AlzheimerΓÇÖs disease, ParkinsonΓÇÖs disease, and Systemic Amyloidoses; and bloodstream infections associated with the use of medical devices. There is a lack of effective treatments for diseases which involve amyloidosis and there is a clear need for improved compositions and methods to prevent the formation and maintenance of bacterial biofilms. The invention relates to bacteriophages that have been engineered to express and secrete amyloid peptides which may be used as a therapeutic agent or as a method to identify additional therapeutic agents.
