Elevated Urinary Levels of Bcl-2 in Prostate Cancer
Technology description
We envision that this technology will yield a quick and simple point-of-use diagnostic test similar to home pregnancy tests, which could then be administered at the physicianΓÇÖs office, the patientΓÇÖs bedside, or even at home.
The University of South Florida has developed a technology for the early diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring of cancer such as prostate cancer. This technology utilizes a biological sample, such as urine, blood and ascites fluid samples, for the detection of elevated Bcl-2 levels as an indicator for the presence of prostate cancer and other reproductive or non-reproductive cancers.
Application area
Early detection of prostate cancer
Advantages
A simple, quick, reliable, and accurate test for the detection of Bcl-2 levels in urine Extremely cost-effective Non-invasive: Use of the patientΓÇÖs urine allows for quick and painless diagnosis and monitoring of the disease
