Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors: New Combination Therapies for Anti-Cancer Treatment

Technology description

Investigators at the University ofSouth Florida have developed new combination therapies for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
Our scientists have developed new combination therapies for treatment of CML that take advantage of the anti-cancer activity of HDAC inhibitors. In vitro studies show that these regimens increase apoptosis in CML cells that sensitive or resistant to current anti-cancer agents or CML cells that are in blast crisis. Use of each agent alone has an anti-cancer effect on some cells; however, the effect increases and is applicable to a wider range of cells when the agents are used in combination.
