Researchers have developed a method that improves the efficacy of a new class of nicotine agonist to focus on regulating nicotine receptor function. These nicotine agonists stimulate neurotransmitters that aid in the modulations of neuroendocrine function, respiration, mood, motor control and function, memory, and cognition. These compounds could be used to help manage chronic pain, as well as in new medications to treat neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
