Background

The virus filter purifier system purifies 95% of the air containing the virus with bleached water at an air flow rate of 20 meters per second. The system was developed during the SARS outbreak in 2003, funded by the Competitive Earmarked Research Grant (CERG), and tested at the Prince of Wales Hospital in 2004.

Introduction

Virus filter purifiers are best used in clinics and hospitals to purify the air for respiratory patients while effectively protecting other patients and health care workers from infection. The system is easy to operate and maintain, and no virus remains in the system after use.
